Forgotten beauties: Dolly Read

A good West Country lass…

Man, how about those there Russ Meyer films – psychedelic freak outs, women with gargantuan jugs. Top class scripts. They had it all. Dolly Read was one of Russ’s buxom lovelies, having graduated from Dixon of Dock Green in 1963 to Beyond The Valley of The Dolls in 1970, in which she played the part of the singer in an all girl rock band. Like The Spice Girls, but with guitars and drums. And quite a songstress she was too – nice vocal trains, rollercoaster curves and a bosom so heavy that you could literally use it as a paper weight. Certain members of the Interestment family were known to watch the movie over and over again, in a confused, mystified, almost revolting silence. Who were these amazing girls? As it happens, Dolly was a Bristol lass and a Playboy Playmate of the Month in May 1966. She has since gone on to star in other things like Charlie’s Angels. What a gal.

As ever, there will be no sensual ladyflesh for the boys without something delightful for the girls. Below is Tom Selleck.
