Second hand bargain: A great game

Brainiacs, get ready for the ride of your lives

We were in, then we were out, then people talked about us going in again, then we didn’t go in, now it seems like we’re in again, and not only that – IT’S GOING TO GET WORSE. This global economic meltdown felt bad in 2009/10, when bewildered men in suits would nervously approach bus stops, scared because they’d never had to use metal money before, but now it’s terrifying, and real. Terrifyingly real. In time, inventions will need to uninvent themselves to save on production costs, cars will be used as family homes. These are weird, freaky, enormously unsettling times. Which is why we now go mega-bonkers-berserk when we catch wind of a genuine bargain! Just this weekend, great friend of the site Hannah came across an old game of Scrabble in her local “Save the Cats”. You remember Scrabble – it’s the word-invention iPhone app that pre-dates Countdown. She found the hard copy! The actual hard copy. “It used to be my favourite game, and after a couple of goes at the weekend, it still is,” Hannah told us over a meal of pitta bread and other favourites. “It’s a magnificent game.” So, come on, spill the beans, how much did you fork out for this vocabularific treat? “A quid”.

Amazing sticking-it-to-the-recession!
