Forgotten beauties: Nico

Published: 30th Mar, 2010

Very nice… but odd

Nowadays beautiful young pop stars tend to be swishy and shiny, with their sparkling teeth and enormous cat-like smiles. But there was a time when gorgeous singers could be two things. Firstly, they could be shrouded in a rather intimidating darkness. And secondly, they could be pretty much tone deaf. It’s probably fair to say that Nico didn’t possess sweet birdsong, more the honking sounds of a disgruntled swan. Still, what a gal she was, with hair as fair as an albino hamster, and cool Andy Warhol and Velvet Underground credentials. Yes sir, she was pretty far out. Unfortunately she died in clumsy biking accident in 1988.

As ever, we wouldn’t dare to treat the boys to such a mysterious beauty without a little something for the ladyfolk. Below is Tom Selleck.

You’re welcome.
