Great British Band: The Libertines

The Libertines, Time for Heroes

For a small window of time, The Libertines looked destined to become a really decent band. That didn’t quite happen, partly thanks to heroin, but mostly because the individual members – namely, the two front men – became slightly hard to like. Doherty was all dirty fingers, and pretentious blood poetry, while the Carl Barat one was far too pouty for our tastes. Still, they did manage a couple of fantastic songs. Above is proof of that.
