Had his heart not packed in around ten years ago, Mario Puzo – the man who wrote The Godfather – would be turning 89 today. Fact fans might be interested to know that, along with the screenplays for The Godfather films, he also wrote the first two Superman movies. That makes him responsible for at least four great cinema experiences. Hence we thought we’d get him a gift, so we all stuffed cotton wool balls into our mouths and began slurring ideas to one another, until it boiled down to a toss up between a set of porcelain ducks, or three clips featuring all of Pacino’s movies. In the end we got him the lot. Happy Birthday Mario!
