Like if Marilyn Monroe was a punk…
Hurl a massive rock into any fashionable London pub, and you’ll probably seriously injure about nine guys who look like Morrissey, and fifteen girls all identical to Debbie Harry when she was in Blondie. For the girls, it’s a very achievable look – one which requires burning all colour from your hair using peroxide, then sprinting naked through a jumble sale to get dressed. While in the gents case, they simply need an old woman’s nightie for a shirt, followed by a well-maintained quiff of quite preposterous proportions. Of course, we’re not complaining in the slightest, because when Blondie first materialised, Debbie Harry was quite a gal. A former Playboy Bunny turned punk – she was like a dream woman come to life. Feisty, sexual pop music at its best – witness below.
As ever, we wouldn’t dream of serving up a fashionable piece of crumpet for the guys without something equally eyebrow-raising and sideways-glancing for the girls. Below is Morrissey.
Tom Selleck is away.
