Forgotten beauties: Glynis Barber

Better known as Makepeace

The 1980s were awash with strange police pairings – Cagney and Lacey, Turner and Hooch, Gibson and Glover in Lethal Weapon. But Dempsey and Makepeace took odd couplings to fantastic new heights when they teamed a wise cracking New Yorker called Dempsey (played by real life Mr Barber, Michael Brandon) with a posh English woman of very noble descent, called Makepeace. Cue lots of eye rolling and tutting on her part, and shrugging as if to say “forget about it!” from him – all of it barely masking a sizzling sexual tension that spilled over into real life. What a cracking looking woman she was too, with a lovely face, which she kept in perfect nick behind a frame of sensational blonde hair. Quite a gal. She has since gone on to melt hearts in Family Affairs and Emmerdale.

Of course, if it’s sexy you’re after, girls, we’re not going to leave you high and dry while the guys get all the thrills. Below is Tom Selleck.
