Second hand bargain: A Nintendo

Say hello to the past, kids

After a weekend of feeding your loved one strawberries in a fancy restaurant, it’s time to draw your tantric intercourse to a close and get back out there into the great recession. There’s a buoyed mood after the romantic interlude, but pockets are even flappier in the wind – literally everyone is skint. Hence we go totally bonkers whenever anyone finds a decent second hand bargain. This week, a friend called Mark enjoyed a great retro fantasy in his local Cancer Research shop. “I can’t afford an Xbox, but I’ve always wanted a decent video game computer thing,” he confided over a slice of sponge cake, “so when I saw a Super Nintendo on the floor, I snatched at it.” For anyone too young to know, the Super Nintendo is the gaming console used to lift spirits in the trenches during the First World War. So, come on, Mark, how much for this crazy old machine? “It was a fiver, but came with Mortal Kombat and Mario Kart!”

Excellent sticking-it-to-the-recession!
